A DAC that measures well isn't cold or digital, its accurate. That means it sounds the way the music is supposed too. If it sounds cold and digital it is introducing as much error as a warm, analogue one. Buy an accurate DAC so that you get the best sound reproduction from that source. Then...

No it doesn't sound worse. It sounds accurate. What you have to come to terms with is that your ears don't like accurate. Which is perfectly acceptable, many of us don't (which is why vinyl is still so popular). For my part I believe a DAC should be as accurate as possible. If you want to...
